The 9th Pici Pasta Bar Lands in Causeway Bay!
A fresh take on the classic Pici brand with new interiors, exclusive dishes and Pirata Group`s famous pasta giveaway on 4 August
Ciao, Causeway Bay! The newest Pici is officially open on 38 Yiu Wa Street. Pirata Group`s iconic neighbourhood pasta bar now brings hand rolled pasta made fresh daily and homestyle Italian treats to its ninth location, right in the heart of the city`s busiest shopping, dining and entertainment district.
Conveniently situated on the street level of Zing!, the new Pici boasts 60 seats and 1,350 square-feet of charming space produced by Pirata Group`s award-winning in-house design team.
Proudly Hong Kong-born, Pici`s popularity driven by guests` appreciation for a simple, comforting, authentic and artisanal approach to pasta making has seen nine restaurant openings since having been founded in 2017. From humble beginnings at a cosy, split-level venue in a Wan Chai cul-de-sac, Pici has expanded to Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, Lai Chi Kok, Sha Tin, Kennedy Town, Tseung Kwan O, an overseas outpost in Shanghai and now, Causeway Bay – in the space of five years.
These nine brick-and-mortar establishments combined with three virtual kitchens in Wong Chuk Hang, Quarry Bay and Kowloon Bay, means Pici now serves over 4,000 guests daily.
Design
Pici Causeway Bay builds on the brand`s classic designs, from open-plan kitchens to the Italian style semi al fresco seating, with the introduction of new elements that enliven the dining experience. Upon arrival guests are greeted by an impactful exterior with large windows, soaring grills and an arched entrance. Providing visual continuity to the tessellated tiling, a stone countertop with natural black and white spots wraps around the central pasta bar.
The traditional bistro-style furnishings of classic Picis here have been given more sleek finishes, seen on the plush button back velvet banquettes and marble and stone inlay table tops. To highlight the evolution of the Pici brand and to truly differentiate Pici Causeway Bay, the design team amplified the feature wallpaper with pink pendants, whisking guests away from the concrete jungle outside, into a more romantic ambiance inside.
Culinary
Highlighting traditional Italian cooking techniques, Pici continues to serve up its signature delights bursting with flavour, colour and texture. Head Chef Dean Lovell joins Pirata Group`s Italian Corporate Chef Andrea Viglione and Pici Executive Chef Davide Borin in cooking up a storm in Causeway Bay.
Exclusive to this location are four new signature dishes. First up, two new starters – a summery Mediterranean Salad HKD85 with crunchy slices of apple and pecan, finished with a touch of crumbly feta cheese; and tender Octopus Salad HKD120 with potato and olive, lightly showered with a zesty lemon oregano dressing.
Pici fans are also invited to discover two new pasta dishes found only in Causeway Bay, that each come in distinct shapes: the Double Ravioli Pumpkin and Ricotta HKD150, a double pocket filled ravioli of two fillings, smoked ricotta and creamy pumpkin, topped with a butter and sage emulsion with spicy salami; and Farfalle Prawns and Pesto HKD170, little bow tie-shaped pasta tossed through a homemade mint and basil pesto, with prawns and a touch of crunchy pistachio. These new pastas might just become your new, all-time favourites.
Pici Executive Chef Davide adds, `With this new opening, we wanted to bring something innovative to longtime Pici fans. Our team experimented with new pasta shapes that didn`t exist on our menus yet, and to incorporate the traditional flavour combination and play with a fun presentation for that signature Pici twist.`
To commemorate this latest Pici opening, the brand will continue its tradition of hosting a pasta giveaway outside its newest location. On 4 August, guests can come line up to receive one of over 500 portions of free pasta and treats being given away as a neighbourhood welcoming party, starting from 6pm until supplies run out.
Stay tuned for more happenings from Pici as the Pici Pasta Run will be returning for its second year in September and the tenth Pici will be opening on October 1 in Quarry Bay, with details to be further announced later this year.
