Join us for the PICI PASTA RUN
First-of-its-kind virtual race has guests enjoying pasta while navigating to each Hong Kong-island Pici Pasta Bar, all for a charitable cause
With a message of `Eat Pasta, Run Faster` Hong Kong restaurant collective Pirata Group today announces details for their first-ever PICI PASTA RUN to be held on Saturday, 26 June 2021. Named for the celebrated pasta bar Pici, which just opened its sixth overall location in Kennedy Town, the run invites guests to enjoy a bit of exercise and Italian food together as they journey between the three Hong Kong island-side Pici Pasta Bar venues in fun team-themed costumes of their choosing.
Participants enter as groups of four via runnerreg.com and can select from three timeslots to embark on the run to accommodate for a more safe, socially distanced activity for all involved. The activity begins at the first-ever Pici, located on 16 St Francis Yard, Wan Chai, where a free carbs-load of morning pasta is given to every runner. From there participants must find their way to Pici Central, located on 24 Aberdeen Street, for a protein pick-me-up, before traveling along the harbour to the finish line at the new Pici Kennedy Town on 55 Cadogan Street where drinks, desserts and more will await.
`Pasta has long been an important source of nourishment for sporty types, either in preparation or recovery, and we want to engage our community to travel to our venues, enjoy some of our signature Pici dishes and have fun, all while supporting a good cause,` says Andrea Viglione, Corporate Chef at Pici Pasta Bar.
The Pici Pasta Bar is the first race where the fastest doesn`t win but those have the most creative, funky and fun time competing. All teams who complete all three checkpoints will be rewarded with Pici mementos and a medal at the end of the event. The best costumed teams from all three starting times will each be eligible to win one of three grand prizes: Gold Prize of free pasta for an entire month for one team of 4, Silver Prize of one week of free pasta for another team, and Bronze Prize of a free brunch extravaganza for the final costumed team. All prizes can be consumed at any of the six Pici Pasta Bar venues in Hong Kong.
The cost to enter the PICI PASTA RUN is HKD200 per person with all fees being donated to MINDHK, a locally registered charity who is committed to improving awareness and understanding of mental health in Hong Kong. The activity is open to persons of all ages and backgrounds.
`We`re so excited for the first Pici Pasta Run and thank Pirata Group for supporting Mind HK through this fun event. The restaurant industry is uniquely vulnerable to mental health problems and we hope to use these funds to continue to ensure everyone in the industry and beyond never has to face a mental health problem alone.` – Dr Hannah Reidy, CEO, Mind HK
